Shawna Torres, LCSW

Hello and welcome to Mind Works! I’m Shawna. I’m a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and I have been working with children, teens and families for over 6 years. I really enjoy working with children and their families as we navigate challenges and make exciting plans for the future. I have worked with children and families in a variety of settings, including inpatient hospitalization as well as outpatient PHP and IOP programs. I received my Masters degree in social work from UTSA in 2016.

How I Can Help

I have experience working on a variety of issues with children, teens and families including managing depression, anxiety, anger, family conflict, low-self esteem, LGBTQ-related concerns, self-harm and suicidal thoughts, to name a few. I have significant experience helping children and teens process and unpack trauma and abuse. My goal for our time together will be to help your child and your family achieve milestones and accomplish the goals we set out in therapy. My forms of intervention include cognitive behavioral and dialectical behavioral therapies. I look forward to engaging in play therapy and using other evidenced-based practices to help your child process their thoughts and feelings. In our time together, my objective will be to have your child walk away with effective coping skills and tools for managing whatever conflict they may encounter.

More About Me

My hobbies including reading, drinking all the coffee, discovering new punk and alternative bands, and doing my own nails. I love a good taco (tell me your favorite taqueria!). I enjoy spending time with my husband and our two children. San Antonio is my favorite place on earth and I love exploring SA and the surrounding area with my family.
