Hello! My name is Sara Cantu, and I am an LPC-Associate working under the supervision of Kimberly Harrington-Delgado, LPC-S, RPT-S. I have my Bachelor of arts in Psychology from the University of Texas at San Antonio, and I obtained my Master’s of Science in clinical mental health counseling in September of 2024 from the same university. My educational background includes gaining clinical experience in private practice and community mental health organization working with children, adolescents, and adults, ages 3 and up. Throughout my time in mental health, I have gained a passion for working with children and families with a variety of concerns ranging from depression and anxiety, to ADHD and trauma.
How I can help
It is important to me that the children and families I have the privilege of working with feel confident and supported with life’s various challenges. My goal is to make the therapeutic space and relationship as warm, safe and empowering as possible. I utilize a variety of interventions ranging from child-led play therapy, art, sand-tray, and EMDR to allow kids to tap into their creativity and express themselves- with or without words. My job is to be with them and allow them to let me inside their worlds to best support and understand their needs. I aim to make the therapeutic space a place in which the therapist and the caregivers work as team members to help the child feel seen and accepted exactly as they are.
More about me
When I am not in the therapy room, I love spending time with my dog and two cats, connecting with nature, reading, and tapping into my creativity. My favorite ways to connect to my inner-self and recharge are through music and art. If I’m not at home, I’m probably at the craft store!
