About Me

Hey, I’m Emma! I am a Licensed Professional Counselor Associate. I earned my Bachelor’s in Victim Studies at Sam Houston State University and my Master’s in Professional Counseling at Texas State University where I focused on play therapy and working with youth. I have worked with children and families in a variety of settings for years – from preschool and summer camps to even juvenile detention – there are few settings I have not had experience in. My passion is empowering youth to take responsibility for their healing and provide the best possible outlet for that change to happen!

How I Can Help

I currently use Child-Centered Play Therapy, Expressive Arts Therapy, and Sand Tray Therapy to activate different parts of the brain and promote more sensory-based healing. I also use Eco Therapy, musical interventions, and project-based learning with teens to ground clients in reality and connect them to the bigger picture. I approach counseling from a collaborative approach, allowing the client to lead me through their world as I assist them in devising creative solutions to complex problems. The mind-body connection as well as expressive creativity is everything to me and I hope to encourage that in every client that I work with!

More About Me

Outside of work I can usually be found in my studio, covered in paint building some new project that came to me only moments ago! I also enjoy antique shopping, cooking, and reading about whatever topic will become my next fun fact in a conversation. Fun fact: did you know that chickens can remember up to 110 faces?
