Ashley Briggs, APRN-CNP, PMHNP-BC

Hello, my name is Ashley Briggs, and I am a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC). I am board-certified by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), ensuring that I meet the highest standards of clinical practice in psychiatric care. I earned my Bachelor of Nursing from the University of Incarnate Word. After four years of working as a float nurse in various hospitals across San Antonio, I decided to return to graduate school and obtained a Master’s in Nursing.

Before embarking on my career as a nurse practitioner, I proudly served as a medic in the United States Air Force for 11 years, both on active duty and in the reserves. My military experience provided me with a strong foundation in medical care,
discipline, and the ability to work under pressure—all of which have greatly influenced my approach to mental health care. My journey in the field of mental health began with a deeprooted passion for helping individuals navigate their mental health challenges and achieve a better quality of life.

How I Can Help

As a PMHNP, I offer a variety of services to support my patients’ mental health needs, including comprehensive psychiatric evaluations, medication management, psychotherapy, and crisis intervention. The treatment plan chosen by the patient and family will be coordinated with the interdisciplinary Mind Works team. My approach to care is patient-centered and holistic,
emphasizing the importance of treating the whole person rather than just the symptoms. I believe in building strong therapeutic relationships with my patients, fostering an environment of trust and collaboration. My goal is to empower my patients to take an active role in their mental health journey and achieve their personal wellness goals.

More About Me

When I’m not working, you can often find me walking my dog, Sasha, who is as adventurous as I am. Speaking of adventures, my next big travel plan is a trip to South Africa! I also love exploring new cafes and coffee shops; you can always catch me sitting in a cozy corner with a good book. To wind down my day, I have made it a routine to enjoy a warm chai tea and binge a
few episodes of a suspenseful TV series.
