Hi! My name is Anissa Castro. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor Associate with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from University of Texas at San Antonio and a Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from St. Mary’s University. I have gained experience working with children by working in the school district and completing my internship hours with the Boy’s and Girl’s Club. Being able to gain this experience has further pushed my passion for helping support children, adolescents, and families that may be struggling with depression, anxiety, or as they navigate through life.
How I Can Help
I strive to create a welcoming, compassionate, and judgment-free environment where clients feel safe to be themselves and explore their thoughts and emotions openly. Seeking support can be one of the hardest steps a person can take towards helping themselves. Knowing this, I would like to help support the individual as they take those vulnerable steps and watch them grow in their journey.
I adapt therapy to each child by understanding who they are and what they love. I use Person-Centered Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Humanistic Therapy, Mindfulness based techniques and developmentally appropriate play-based interventions to foster resilience, self-awareness and regulate their own emotions.
More About Me
Outside of work, I love to read and listen to music. I am very versatile in my music taste, listening to almost everything. I also enjoy cooking and spending time with my family, friends and dog. I love exploring the town to find the best matcha or coffee it has to offer.
