Hello, my name is Angel Jackson. I am a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP), board-certified through the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC).
My nursing career began with an Associate’s degree from the Baptist School of Health Professions, followed by a Bachelor of Nursing from the University of Texas at Arlington, and, most recently, a Master’s in Nursing from Wilkes University.
Before entering the nursing profession, I served my community for 15 years, both stateside and abroad, as a Doctor of Chiropractic. While I valued my role in this capacity, I realized I wanted to offer even more to those who entrusted their care to me.
My philosophy embraces the theory of a mind-body connection, leading me to pursue mental health to fulfill my goal of being a holistic provider.
How Can I Help
My role as a PMHNP is to support my patients’ mental health journey with personalized plans specific to their needs. This begins by conducting a comprehensive psychiatric evaluation, during which a plan of action is developed. The plan may include psychotherapy, medication management if warranted, and co-management of care with other practitioners on the Mind Works interdisciplinary team.
I am a strong advocate of educating patients and their caregivers about their diagnosis and care plan as often as needed. Additionally, if I don’t know an answer, I will find it and deliver a prompt, evidence-based response.
More about Me
My work-life balance is achieved by enjoying family activities with my husband and son. You can usually hear me before you see me at a youth sports event, cheering for my son, or relaxing at home watching a historical period drama. I also love to travel and collect stamps in my passport.
I believe that the more we experience the diverse cultures of the world, the greater our ability to empathize and have compassion for each other, while also enhancing our self-awareness and perspectives on life.
