Hi! My name is Emily, and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor Associate (LPC-A). I earned my Bachelor’s degree from The University of the Rio Grande Valley and my Master’s degree from St. Mary’s University. Since 2021, I have been working in behavioral health settings, supporting children, adolescents, and families through a wide range of emotional, behavioral, and life challenges. My experience includes working with children navigating anxiety, depression, PTSD, ADHD, autism, and other complex mental health concerns, as well as supporting families facing life stressors such as substance use, housing instability, and identity exploration.
How I Can Help
With my background, I focus on creating a supportive, nonjudgmental environment where children can show up as their authentic selves, explore challenges safely, and build the skills they need to thrive both in and out of the therapy room. Together, we work on managing big emotions, developing coping strategies, building confidence, and navigating everyday obstacles. I draw from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) skills, and Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) to guide this growth. I am also currently pursuing training in EMDR, which allows me to deepen my trauma-informed approach and better support children who have experienced stressful or overwhelming events. When appropriate, I collaborate with families, schools, and other providers, because meaningful growth often happens across multiple environments.
More About Me
Outside of work, I value connection and balance. I enjoy spending time with loved ones, recharging through self-care, and staying active through hiking, boxing, and dancing. I also love reading, watching sports, catching a good thriller, and trying out new foods — a true foodie at heart!
