Welcome! My name is Rachel, and I am a Licensed Professional Counseling Associate. I graduated from Texas State University and earned my Master’s of Arts in Counseling at B.H. Carroll Theological Seminary. I have worked as a counselor for the past three years, focusing on helping children, adolescents, and families while pursuing my Registered Play Therapist certification.
Many parents I work with feel overwhelmed and exhausted while trying to support their children through intense emotions and struggles. I help families and children facing challenges such as depression, school anxiety, bullying, emotional dysregulation, struggles with executive functioning, low self-esteem, and grief and loss. I also work as a neuroaffirming counselor, supporting children with ADHD and autism by encouraging them to recognize their strengths and helping them cultivate the tools they need to thrive.
How I can help
I collaborate with clients, actively listening to both parents and their child, ensuring that each individual feels validated and understood. I strive to create a safe space where you and your child can openly communicate, process and manage strong emotions, learn coping skills, set and achieve goals, and build self-confidence. I utilize both client-centered and cognitive-behavioral play therapy techniques, with other methods sprinkled in as needed, depending on the individual I am working with.
I am passionate about helping families and communities understand recent neuroscience about behavior and child developmental theories. I want to help parents and children recognize the underlying messages in their behavior to help foster healthier relationships.
