Hannah Turnbow, LPC

About me:

Hello! My name is Hannah Turnbow and I am a licensed Professional Counselor. I initially began my journey of working with children and families through the path of teaching. In my undergraduate studies I majored in early childhood and special education at Oral Roberts University. My desire to connect with others from diverse backgrounds led me to start my career as a teacher living overseas in the United Arab Emirates. During this time, I enjoyed seeing how children naturally tap into their own sense of curiosity to learn and grow socially and emotionally through play. Living in this culture was also a special opportunity to learn from the ways that stories shape lives and families in a different societal context. This perspective was influential as I began my path to becoming a counselor in 2020. As a counselor, I seek to engage with curiosity and respect for the various backgrounds and values of all. I graduated with my Masters in Clinical Mental Health Counseling in 2022 from Northeastern State University, and I have worked with both adults and children in both agency and private practice settings in Oklahoma.

How I can help:

As a counselor, I lean most naturally into an individualized treatment approach using therapeutic techniques through play, art, and stories from the perspective of client centered therapy, family systems, and cognitive behavioral therapy approaches. I believe that counseling children to explore their emotions, and develop concrete strategies for navigating their world. I enjoy the process of fostering growth through various strategies for neurodivergent experiences as well, such as autism and ADHD.

More about me:

In my free time I enjoy spending time with my husband and our family, being outside, running, biking, traveling, and reading. I look forward to connecting with you soon!
